How do you make someone's day? Bring out the beauty in them and put a smile on their faces.
This is exactly what 21 students from LaSalle College of the Arts did, with the guidance of their supervisors.
As part of their Community Outreach Project, these students from LaSalle College of the Arts visited the centre of O'Joy Care Services for 3 afternoons. Each team of 2-3 students are assigned to work with a senior.
They took time to interact with our seniors, shared stories, discussed their likes and dislikes, explored possibilities before eventually deciding on a preferred look.
Then armed with foundation, powder, brushes and accessories, they transformed our seniors into goddesses. Some of the seniors couldn't recognise themselves!
The photo taking was interesting. With a large piece of white paper as a backdrop, our seniors became instant "movie stars", trying to maintain their most brilliant smiles in front of a group of flashing cameras. Some of them are shy. Some of them are playful. But everyone enjoyed themselves.
At the end of three weeks, many of the students and seniors developed such a good relationship that they were reluctant to say goodbye.
